Borrowing privileges are extended to the following groups of individuals affiliated with the Adler University:
All patrons are asked to honor due dates, recall notices, and circulation restrictions. Local patrons who will be away for an extended leave are asked to return materials before departure.
Patrons are responsible for materials charged out under their name. In the event that a patron gives an item to a fellow patron to use or return, the original patron is still liable for any overdue fines or replacement fees.
The Libraries reserve the right to suspend the borrowing privileges of any patron failing to comply with stated Library policies. The Libraries will make all reasonable efforts to provide advance warning to the borrower in these cases, and privileges will be reinstated upon correction of the policy infraction.
In accordance with the Code of Ethics of the American Library Association, the Libraries will “protect each library user’s right to privacy and confidentiality with respect to information sought or received and resources consulted, borrowed, acquired or transmitted.” The Libraries do not maintain historical circulation records, and will not divulge current circulation information or other patron data to anyone other than the patron in question for any reason.
Fines and fees for overdue, lost, or damaged items vary depending on the type of material and where you have borrowed it from, as outlined in the table below.
After a circulating item has been overdue for 35 days, its status automatically changes to “Lost” and you will be billed for the cost of replacing the item. If you return the item we will waive replacement costs.
Student patrons with accumulated fines over $75 may lose borrowing privileges and may be blocked from registration until the fines have been paid.

All circulating items are subject to recall by the Library for the purposes of course reserves or, in the case of AV materials, for in-class viewings. Initial recall notices will be sent via email; secondary and tertiary notices may be sent via email or phone. Recalled items are due immediately. Fines for recalled items will begin to accrue 7 days after the recall date.
Reserves can be placed on print books and audiovisual materials. You can learn how to reserve online here. You will receive an email when the book is ready for pickup, and it will be held at the circulation desk for 7 business days.
If you have requested a book through I-Share or Interlibrary Loan, we will hold it at the desk for you for two weeks after we notify you that it has arrived. After two weeks, we will send it back to the lending library.
Faculty (Core and Adjunct) may reserve VHS tapes or DVDs in advance for the purposes of classroom viewing by online through our catalog. If you are a student and you need a video for a class, please talk to your instructor about making arrangements with the Library.
